Congestion on the West Coast

Importers are experiencing delays of 7 to 10 days, as congestion mounts in west coast ports. This bottleneck is effecting primarily the Ports of Los  Angeles and Long Beach and causing  cargo vessels  to sit idly  off the coast waiting 

to unload  and the situation does not look to be improving soon. Many importers are bringing in their product through alternative ports; further up the west coast, the gulf, and the east coast to alleviate the delays they are currently 



Importers looking to bypass the congestion taking place in on the West Coast should look at alternatives, such as Port Miami and Port Everglades as entry points for their products.
 experiencing.  The cause of this bottleneck is attributed to two major points; the increase of Post Panamax vessels and a shortage of chassis. (New Panamax Vessels carry between 10,000 and 14,500 TEU)
