Interport Weekly Issue No.15-2015

Customs and Border Protection will be implementing full         enforcement of the Importer Security Filing (ISF).

The ISF procedure requires that all ocean shipments that are headed for the USA be reported to Customs and Border Protection 24 hours BEFORE the Freight is Loaded at the Port of Origin. The enforcement phase of this requirement will take effect May         14th, 2015, however Customs and Border Protection may apply these penalties retroactively, so we recommend that Importers make sure that that the ISF Filings are filed accurately and timely in order to avoid liquidated damages. Penalties for non-compliance start at $5,000.00 and can be as much as $10,000.00.
